The Role

Fortis Group is seeking an experienced MEP Coordinator to join our construction team. Reporting to the Project Director, this role collaborates with project management, estimating, and development teams to support the successful delivery of construction projects. The MEP Coordinator will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across all Fortis builds, while fostering strong relationships with internal teams, partners, and clients. The ideal candidate will possess the experience and technical expertise required to effectively fulfill the responsibilities outlined below.

Job Duties & Responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems with architectural, structural, and other building components to ensure proper integration.
  • Work closely with MEP subcontractors to ensure scopes are fully understood and that all interface points between trades are properly coordinated with no gaps or overlaps.
  • Lead MEP coordination meetings with subcontractors, consultants, and the project team to review layouts, resolve clashes, and confirm installation sequencing.
  • Review and manage shop drawings, submittals, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Oversee BIM coordination and participate in clash detection processes to identify and resolve conflicts between building systems.
  • Ensure proper spatial coordination of MEP services within ceilings, shafts, equipment rooms, and service corridors.
  • Support construction scheduling by coordinating MEP installation activities with the overall project schedule.
  • Conduct site reviews to verify installations align with coordinated drawings and approved submittals.
  • Assist in resolving design or constructability issues in collaboration with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate system testing, commissioning activities, and support project closeout documentation including as-built drawings and O&M manuals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of MEP construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • An engineering degree or technical diploma in Mechanical or Electrical
  • Understanding of contract terms and financials related to a construction project
  • Strong MEP knowledge with a basic understanding of Architectural & Civil
  • Proficient with Autodesk suite
