Acting as Kanata Living’s Construction Manager, Fortis Group completed the 50,000 sq. ft. renovation and addition for the long-term care facility. The project was completed through an owner requested phased schedule to minimize any disruptions to residents.

The project included multiple additions to the existing 110-bed facility, as well as a complete renovation of the existing building, full medical clinic, new elevators and all new mechanical and electrical.

This project was required to be completed in multiple phases including Ministry of Health review, in order to maintain an operating facility during construction. Specialty excavation was required for the construction of additions within the interior courtyard and elevator pits. Site works included re-constructed parking lots and a new effluent pond with turbidity curtain and high-pressure pumps.
