Fortis Group completed the LEED Certified Additions and Renovations to Richmond Terrace Long Term Care Facility located in Amherstburg, Ontario. The project was constructed in five phases to allow the facility to continue normal day-to-day operations with minimal disruptions

Fortis was approached by Apans Health Services to review the project for potential cost savings and provided over thirty value engineered options resulting in owner savings of nearly $1 million. The existing three-story building had not undergone major upgrades since the 1980’s and was in need of not only updated finishes, built major replacements and upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems. As more LTC beds were required, three multi-level additions were added to the building’s footprint, two additions onto the North side of the building, and one addition onto the South side.

Overall the additions increased the existing 60,000 sq. ft. building to over 100,000 sq. ft.
